Keto Diet - Make Anyone Worse?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’m doing great on my diet and it’s been 6 weeks. I’m fine with the food restrictions, lost a bunch of fat which is a plus. But I’ve had like 3X my norm of seizures. They are milder I think, so I guess that’s good.
Anyone else had KETO or MAD make your epilepsy worse?

I’ve got an email into the nutritionist who is supervising my diet. Then I’ll probably contact the neurologist.

It's understandable to be concerned about an increase in seizures after starting the ketogenic diet. Research shows mixed results - for some people with epilepsy, the diet helps reduce seizures, while for others it may initially increase seizure frequency before leading to improvement. It's understandable to be concerned about an increase in seizures after starting the ketogenic diet. Research shows mixed results - for some people with epilepsy, the diet helps reduce seizures, while for others it may initially increase seizure frequency before leading to improvement. It's best to consult your neurologist if you have concerns. The increase in milder seizures could be your body adjusting to ketosis. Stay in close contact with your doctor, follow their guidance on continuing the diet, and let them know about any changes in seizure pattern. Some find adding supplements helps.

I agree with you and your post and the other people's posts here, I am not on a keto diet, but I am on a fasting diet I put together about 7 months ago, I don't think it effects me and my condition I have, I like it and have lost 24 lbs doing it, I think it's dif per person and only you can tell If it's doing what it's supposed to, and if effects your condition you have, but ask your doc about this ❓ and come up with some suggestions from you and your doc, and go from there, my opinion to you, good luck with that
