At What Point Do You Know Its Time To Switch Doctors? I

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Colorado Springs, CO

My doctor paased me on to her PA and I have not seen her again. My husband thinks that was not very professional. Maybe one time, but not each visit. He thinks i should get a neurologist that will see me each visit.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

The doctor I saw for seven years forgot my name every time, forgot his prescriptions, often made me feel like I was in an abusive relationship..and that is NOT ME. I stayed because in the world I was… read more

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

How does it feel when you’re having trouble getting words out? I have occasional trouble with it, like today, and I wanna see how it’s affected others.

It’s hard to say how long it goes on . Everyone is different.

For myself. When I first wake up I struggle getting out what I want to say. I may be away but my brain is still asleep. It takes me… read more

Lack Of "Event On EEG"

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
New Jersey, NJ

My one hour Eeg showed sharp waves over bilateral frontal lobes, more dominant on the left.

My ambulatory Eeg said that it could not rule out partial seizures but read as follows.

" intermittent and elipitform spike and sharp waves were noted in the bilateral frontal regions, more on the left. Intermittent runs of sharply contoured theta waves centropartietal head region, more on the left."

Goes on to talk about focal cortical irritability and epilipic potiential. And the clincial significance… read more

It sounds like there were some abnormal brain waves, even if you didn't have a seizure. When medication dosages are being lowered and new meds are being introduced, sometimes we don't have enough of… read more

Has Anyone Else Experienced Chest Pain/tightening With VNS?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Roachdale, IN

I have had VNS for about 18 months now and I haven't really had any problems, but last night I started having a strong tightening in my chest. At first I thought I was having a heart attack because it was so tight and painful, but then I realized it was happening when the stimulator went off. This morning while I was at work it was hurting so bad that it nearly brought tears to my eyes and is now hurting when it's not even stimulating. I haven't had any adjustments to it in a couple of months… read more

Does Anyone Go To The Doctor And Forget What The Doctor Said?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Colorado Springs, CO

I had a neurologist appointment. I know I answered most questions like I know what I am talking about. But when I get home and try to explain to my husband what the doctor said, I don't remember. I don't remember why I need a test? I don't remember what I said. I feel so dumb. My spouse usually goes to my appointments, but couldn't go this time. He gets frustrated when I don't have the information. He thinks that sometimes doctors just want to do tests to get information for statistical… read more

Teva Lamotrigine Shortage

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Vancouver, WA

How many of you are affected by the Teva Lamotrigine shortage? Also how many of you take a seizure med manufactured by one company and stick to that company. I have been taking my medication and in June my pharmacy for reasons they cannot explain to me decided to change companies and now the Teva is no longer available. Of course they think I am upset over nothing. I told them that it is their mess up and that now I have to deal with the adjustments AGAIN of nausea, headache, and body aches… read more

Lamictal/lamotrogine And Sore Throat Stuffy Nose

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sydney, AU

Im only on 150mg of lamictal at the moment but still increasing, aiming for 400mg before my next check-in with my neurologist. Ive read a stuffy nose and sore throat can be common side effects of lamictal. Ive had these symptoms for about 3-4 weeks now and had to take antibiotics at one point as it became a sinus infection.

Do the the stuffy nose and sore throat symptoms go away or just a chronic thing to get used to now?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member
