Briviact

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Oklahoma City, OK

My neurologist added Briviact to my other meds and so far the side effects have been few. Thank GOD! I am noticing that I’m short fused / irritable more than usual though. It’s hard for me to decipher right now because I get this way before I start my period (tmi sorry). I couldn’t take Keppra because it made me moody and temperamental as hell. Input? Thank you! 😘

I know it can be tricky but just got to push through it all :/

Epilepsy World

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

It's difficult to tell from this forum but I would be interested to know which parts of the world suffer from epilepsy more than others. Is it because of lack medical services and investment, is it population stats, diet, genetics or other brain disorders that trigger seizures.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Michele from UK. My seizures are brought on by stress and have been hormone linked. I’ve been on the same epilepsy medication since I was 11 (now 57) Tegretol - same low dosage. Everything was well… read more

Brain Donation

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

I am going to ask a question which I know is controversial and a lot of people will not agree with (especially in the states) but here goes: how do people feel about donating their brain after they have passed away to medical science in the hope one day they will find a permanent cure for epilepsy and other brain disorders?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

When you pass away your not going to need it anyway. So why not donate it and see if they can find a cure for someone out there.

Lamictal Vs Tegretol For Left Temporal Lobe Epilepsy?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Surrey, BC

Has anyone taken one of these meds for left temporal lobe epilepsy, what have been your side effects? Have you had success?

At the moment I am on Keepra 1250mg and Clobazam 20 mg (25 mg around my prd) This year I have had an increase of complex partial seizures (from 1 a year to 3 a year); I normally have about 5-9 simple partial seizures a month; around my ovulation and period

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I am on the same combo except not topiramte; wondering if that helped in anyway?

Crying Fits

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Ambrose, GA

I had a really bad day yesterday. Had an awful crying fit. I have done this on occasion, bit it is so humiliating. Can't stop myself. Does this go along with seizures? Medications? I can either do this after i have a full blown seizure or by itself when i get overwhelmed. So sick and tired of it. Especially when no big seizure to go along with it. I think it is more embarrising. Sorry if any words are misspelled. I am terribly dependant on spell check now.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Don't worry about spell check as i am the same with a lot of the longer words and find it very useful !!!

Medical Alert System?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Dothan, AL

I been thinking about getting an alert system since im home alone. My service dog can be trained to press the button if i have a seizure and need help. He alerts to some seizures and barks if im down longer than 5min or goes and find the nearest person
Problem is my family has lack of communication skills. They ignore my service dog when he is trying to tell them something! Going back to me having no support at home. My question i guess is... if i can't get them to listen to me or my service… read more
