Lamictal Titration And Fatigue

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Shannon, IE

Hi All
Has anyone been on Keppra and had Lamictal added? My son was fine up until last week he was at 75mg twice a day of lamictal and seemed to get a bit tired the second week after each dose increase but last week he was very tired and ended up missing school. He doesn’t seem to be getting any better his energy levels are so low. As of today he is at 100mg twice a day plus the usual 1500mg of Keppra twice a day. When I spoke to the epilepsy nurse at the start she said that Lamictal usually… read more

World Mental Health Day

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

Today is World Mental Health Day (although as sufferers of epilepsy everyday is just as important)

Whoever you are, whatever time zone you are in, whatever medication you take, however bad your epilepsy and seizures are your life is important and you are not alone.

Take care everyone.

Does Anyone Have A Problem Accepting Their Health And Keep On Moving Foward In Their Life?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Harrisburg, PA

We are all in the 'same boat' so to speak. We've been through a lot with this sickness. I know that I have a tendency to always look back and not ahead. Why, I don't know, but I'm trying to work my way out of this situation now. As I do I keep you up to date.

I realize that we all have our 'bad', 'so/so', and 'good' days. But, just remember we are just a different part of the world. There are others less fortunate than we are. Those that are blind, deaf, or have incurable cancer.

For me I… read more

Relationships And Epilepsy

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Shanklin, UK

Does anyone who is single find it hard to find that special someone who understands you and what living with epilepsy is like.
It seems to me that as soon as you say epilepsy people run a mile.
Maybe it's me or the fact they don't understand it or scared?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Definitely no, I have found the vast majority of people have always been accepting. Especially that special someone. But because people often fear the unknown and seizures can be frightening I believe… read more

Who Is Eligible For VNS?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Roachdale, IN

What kind of seizures does VNS help reduce? What "requirements" must you meet to have it? I see my neurologist next week and I'm going to ask him about it. I thought I would get your opinions first.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

VNS's help with grand mal, petit mal and partial seizures. BUT you have to stay on medication, also. I take very high doses of Keppra and Zonegran every day. Now, I was one of the first 1,500… read more

Feeling Smothered

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Pittsboro, NC

I am glad to have a husband who is concerned about me, but last night I am out for my walk and part way through my husband comes out to check on me. I know this is part rant and part question, sorry. I just get tired of the constant hovering. Does anyone else feel this way?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

That is wonderful!
