Carbamazepine And Pineapple

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Southampton, UK

I've been tucking into some fresh pineapple and it's beautiful but then I remembered how acidic it is. My epilepsy nurse has told me to always stay away from grapefruit which is no problem as its gross 😂. Does anyone know if pineapple can effect the way carbamazepine works and escitalopram which is an anti depressant?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I dont know about pineapple on the meds, but I do know i have to avoid cranberry juice with my anti Ds 🙃

What Do You All Think It Means When A Neurologist/epileptologist Tells You That Your Having Seizures Around Your Head?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Stockton, CA

I am just curious to know about this because this happened to me with the last neurologist I saw. I am more the type of person in getting down to the nitty gritty of things. I am very well precise, be clear, concise, and truly telling things in great detail. The last time I saw this neurologist I didn't care for him because of him not being able to answer my questions and telling me the exact location of my seizures. There are some people who are educated. Is he talking about the areas connected… read more

I have never been told where my seizures start. I don't think mine are localized to any area in my brain.

Has Anyone Ever Been Told From Their Neurologist/epileptologist That You Are Drinking The Wrong Type Of Water?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Stockton, CA

I am just curious because when I used to live in the State of Arizona the specialist that I had seen told me that I was drinking the wrong type of water. I had a seizure back then on the job and was told that it was due to me being dehydrated. The thing that was weird was that my old job gave out the Dasani or Aquafina brand of water. I don't drink caffeinated beverages, coffee, energy drinks, sports drinks, or anything with caffeine in it. I was told that a person who has Epilepsy is supposed… read more

Does Anyone Have A Day That It Feels Like No One Has The Time To Talk To You? But Let You Have A Seizure, Hospital, It Changes?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
MCCORMICK, SC

What I mean is you don't want everyone to fall out or be scared of your seizures, but it would be nice to be called just to talk with you about something else. I saw a show today that made me think of getting a pet. At least I will have company? Is that stupid?
