How Many Of You Have Reached Out To The Epilepsy Foundation (or The Like) And Ask Them To Spread The Word About This Site?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

Please tell me that I am not the only one urging them to tell everyone with Epilepsy/Seizure Disorder about this amazing site.

It has changed my life to come here and make friends who know exactly what it is like to have a seizure. Don't you want everyone to also receive this gift?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I about this site from my Neurologist. I've never thought about asking the association to add it. I've thanked my neurologist numerous times for suggesting it. I'm on it daily. I've made online… read more

Which Of You Who Have Had Any Form Of Brain Surgery Would Not Do So If You Could Go Back In Time With The Knowledge You Have Now?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

I know that a few of my friends have expressed that if that had known before they had their first brain surgery what they know now, then they never would have agreed to it. Who else feels this way? How many feel that the brain surgeries have improved your quality of life?

I am not going into this eventual trip to the seizure center with any intention of agreeing to a brain surgery until there is no other options. I believe because my neurologist is at least in his late 60s, that he is very… read more

Has Anyone Experienced Migraines Before An Epilepsy Diagnosis?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Liberty, SC

i had severe migraines from puberty until my late 30's when they gradually went away. I still have ocular migraines but those i can live with. in my 50's i had a motorbike accident that i was told was the result of a seizure. (i have never remembered any part of the wreck.) it's quite possible that i had epilepsy before then but was never diagnosed.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Ativan

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Yankton, SD

Has anyone else been prescribed Ativan? I've noticed it helps tremendously as stress is a huge trigger to my seizures. I noticed it the most at work, it's stressful now and I haven't had a seizure whereas before Ativan I would have. Just wondering if anyone else is taking Ativan as well?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Ativan works well as a rescue med (been taking it for 2 years) but I make sure to not take it more often than what the prescription says. You’re right it can be addictive but only if you let it become… read more

Has Anyone Ever Experienced Fluid Retention While Taking Keppra?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Brunswick, AU

I've been taking Keppra for almost 8 years now and off and on I've experienced unsightly fluid retention in the legs and stomach. I've never thought to associate the two previously but in the warmer months it gets pretty bad.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar while taking Keppra or perhaps I just have a predisposition to fluid retention....

If you have experienced it how have you managed it?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

It turns out after writing it I was diagnosed with lower limb lymphoedema. I wear compression stockings every day.

I also have an unfortunate gene mutation Leiden factor 5 which means I'm 8 time more… read more

Has Anyone With A Seizure History Had A Colonoscopy? Please Need Some Advice

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Miami, FL

Hi everyone would really appreciate any advice on my situation,

My mother had a brain tumor removal 7 years ago and one year after that she had her first seizure. She’s had them on off after that for a while, but they stopped for about the past two years (knock on wood)
Her seizures would be triggered by fatigue or lack of food/glucose.
Has anyone had this similar experience and had a colonoscopy done?
I’m pretty worried about the prep before the procedure because as you know you have to… read more

Cognitive Problems Before And/or After Brain Surgery For Epilepsy

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Huntsville, AL

I am possibly considering brain surgery for my seizures. I've seen people on here that mention they have cognitive issues, I've also noticed that many of these same people have also had brain surgery. For those of you that have had brain surgery, did your cognitive issues happen before or after surgery? As in did you go into surgery and come out the same person? Did you go into surgery and come out with some cognitive losses? Did you have some cognitive loss due to the seizures before surgery… read more
