Hospital Appointment
Not a bad day. Had two small seizures but they were half 1 yesterday morning and about 1 this morning so nearly 24 hours without a seizure which is a bonus for me. Anyway at the hospital Friday morning am currently on Zebinix 1200mg Epilim 600mg 3 times a day and Lamotrogine 50mg morning and 75mg at night and I am just on my last week or so of coming off Topiramate. Any suggestions for asking my doctor what new meds I could try as she is insistant on doing a spinal tap/lumbar puncture and I… read more
I tried Keppra it made it worse. Neurotin made me suicidal. I was taken slowly up the highest amount that you can take.My whole personality changed, then the depression started. Next thing I knew I was having suicidal thoughts. later I found out from a friend of mine her son was put on neurotin and comitted suicide within 3 months of being placed on it. He had never been depressed before. If you placed on neurotin please be careful with that one it can be very scary.
trileptal has been great for me, Keppra made me a bitch! mom tells me LOL, phenobarbital is good but made me a bit spacey, clonopin is doing good, - also on seroquel and effexor for mood stabilization...remember these can cause depression - all seizure meds!! I am allergic to Dilantin but I hear that one commonly.
if they have gotten worse - something has to change!! make sure it does!!
I gave her all this information last time I saw her..... Also gave her a list and diary of seizures. You know what she did with it? Looked at it and said "40 - 45 partial seizure's a month isn't a lot" I then thought on my feet and asked "When would I expect to get my license back then?" Her reply actually frightened me. She said "There's no reason why you can't drive now. These seizure's aren't bad" yet I can have anything from what looks like a panic attack to something that you can see all my muscles in my face tense up my arms and body goes ridged. Although this only lasts for at most a minute it's the fact it happens. Also the come down afterwards is bad as it can make me incredibly tired and in need of sleep to recover. And yet am ok to drive hmmmm your thoughts please????
I had a doctor in Florida that wanted me to keep up with everything that I could remember right before the seziures. At that time I was having alot. Looking for triggers, signs to watch for. If someone witnessed the seizure, then ask them what they saw. Things like that could help give them information that you can't. I had three different people to write in my diary. I hope that helps.
Hi Elitha
Thankfully she didn't put me on it. She actually didn't change any of my medication insteas criticized that I hadn't kept a seizure diary...... hmmmm I have one a day is that not diary enough for her. She also didn't listen to the fact that I was put on Epilim because it got worse she said that I went on it and THEN it got worse (didn't really help that my dad was sat there agreeing with her) she now wants me to keep a diary (shouldn't be hard) stay on the Zebinix, Lamotrogine and Epilim and see how it goes and go back in 4 months. If I still experience seizures then they want me to go back after 2 months and look at having another EEG, MRI and she wants me to have a Spinal Tap aka lumbar puncher. I really don't want to do that one..... help please
