The only side effect was weight loss. Depakote of 2500 mg daily over 14 year made me gain over 100 pounds. So when I changed to Zonogrom (zunisamide), I lost about 85 pounds. I use to call it the Zonogram diet. Lol I changed no eating habits at all. Are the same exact stuff. But I got a plateau. It was great for about 6 years but then my seizures got really bad. I'm currently on zonogram and lamictal plus i now have a VNS. So for the most part it does a really good job.

Were you only on Zonogram for the 6 years or did you take something else w/ it?

wow, neurologist wants hubby to get to 1,000 mg daily. He is now on 800. I have not found out much online with anyone over the 600. Have they controlled your seizures? Have you ever had any side effects with Zonisamide? (rash, sleepiness, etc?)

I probably take one of the highest you will see....900 mg daily. The highest recommended dose by the company that makes it is 600 mg daily. I take 500 mg in the morning and 400 mg at night. I have been on this dosage for about 12 years now.

The highest legal dose is 600mg. I have been on 550mg. Unfortunately I grew a high tolerance to it the four or five years I was on it. It stopped working for me. But was a good med on lower doses- side effects got pretty bad when I got up that high on it: depression, anger, anxiety, irritable, insomnia, etc. in the end you are different so it may be a good medication. It's just hard to say
