Can You Have Seizures At Night And That Would Make You Severe Fatigue?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Milwaukee, WI

I have had epilepsy since I was 11 and I'm 34. As of now lately for the past couple of months I have been drained exhausted and I just read an article that says you can have seizures at night? Does anybody have any answers or what they do? Or does this mean my vagal nerve stimulator battery has to be changed?

I have mine mostly at night, my sezuire s,aka called nocturnal seizures. Happing in deep sleep and they will make you as fatigued as having a sezuire when your awake so yes if you're having them at night you can wake up severly fatigued as I do when I have mine and am so fatigued I won't get out of bed till sometimes 1in the afternoon and have something to eat and fall asleep watching tv.

My neurologist calls these nocturnal seizures. I've had many of them over the last 15-20 years. When I do have them, I wake up the next morning and feel like I ran three triathalons. I'm also drenched in sweat. My wife has told me that sometimes I'd have four a night. Because of them, it destroyed my right shoulder. Eventually, I needed to have my complete shoulder replaced. Have you talked to your neurologist about them? I'm really not sure what she did (tho I really should know) but I've had a significant dropoff in the last couple of years.

I've also had nocturnal sezuires that go on for days I wake up extremely fatigued and have at moments sleep walked and fall due to sezuires Γ¬ had sleep test and hospital stays to see the type of sezuires its extremely embarrassing going through something like that and very scary because you are not aware talkto your neurologist it's extremely important.

I have mostly nocturnal seizures also. They happen shortly before I wake up, or sometimes shortly after I get up(that’s when I fall and get hurt). I also am severely fatigued and dehydrated when I awake. I always β€œknow” I had a seizure in my sleep just by sensation in my head and body is severely fatigued and body slimy from sweat. Drink a glass of water right away and rest for the entire day if you can. It helps my thinking to come back with some quick mind puzzles like crosswords, anything to engage your brain and thinking again. But most importantly, it helps me to rest...πŸ™‡πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’†πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ§˜
