TheshaLewis, I think depression comes with the territory of fighting our disease. I mean if you think about:it, our brains are going haywire, we need to stop those seizing nerves and muscles, so we depress them with seizure control meds. There are certain anti depressants that can be used with some seizure meds, so if it continues to be a problem, maybe ask your doctor? Regardless, you are not alone…

My Neurologist won't put me on antidepressants because so many of them interact with seizure meds. I do get anxiety attacks but she says to take an extra kolopin wgen that happens which I'm on for my seizures. I take 4 seizure meds and I've been reading up on epilepsy and depression and anxiety. They go hand in hand, both from the brain and my depression is usually short lived and than I'll get another attack of it later. Sometimes worse than others. My gp tried to put me on an anti depression med and the pharmacist said it wasn't safe with my meds. I do take Topamax which at least helps with my migraines also from my seizures. You have to go to drugs .com and check them yourself cuz some doctors don't pay attention.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, I was diagnosed a month before the age of 2. The Dr. Gave my parents 2 possible theories on my diagnosis.

1. My mom had the flu. The Dr. Thinks that I got thrown around in my mom”s rib cage.
2. I was a breached baby.
