I would say hope for the best. A couple years ago my mom ( now 89 ) we found out had congestive heart failure, stage 4 kidney failure and a brain tumor on top of having Alzheimer’s. All we can do is pray and hope for the best. Mom will be 90 in June. Basically she’s living on borrowed time.

She's on Keppra.. twice a day. It's touch and go. Despite the Kepra she still has her daily problems with memory loss, somewhat motor loss, ability to focus, ability to retain information etc...

I'm guessing that unless a miracle happens...she'll remain the same for the remainder of her life ..or things will get worse and perhaps progress to Alzheimer's or Dementia..time will tell

I've also read epilepsy is associated with dementia/Alzheimer's. There is a lot of interest recently in researching how anti-seizure meds such as Keppra can restore cognitive function / memory. Supposedly it can help in something like 45% of cases where people have dementia and silent seizures. Is your mom on anti seizure meds? I read one study where a woman was about to move into assisted living due to her cognitive decline but after taking anti-seizure meds, she was able to live independently.

Tidd, I work (very) part time keeping tabs on all the new scientific studies published in Alzheimer’s research. Unfortunately, Ivermectin read that epileptic seizures are a common problem in later stages of Alzheimer’s and related dementias. So yes it is a possible diagnosis, but I don’t know anything about how they treat it.
