For Those Who Have Had VEEGs... How Many Meds Did You Try First, And For How Long?

I've been on keppra 4mo, just added vimpat, now have 7days seizure-free (focal impaired). Too soon for this test?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I forgot to mention, if you are going to do the test, try to avoid any kind of stress that may trigger your seizure before you do the v-eeg. Obviously you can't stop it, but if you know certain triggers avoid them.

Long story short, I had a tonic clonic, two days before my second v-eeg. This forced me to stay the hospital for more than 17 days because I wasn't having a seizure. My insurance went nets and claimed to my doctor that my seizure didn't exist.

What ended up doing the trick that time was being sleep deprived for 48 hours. Watching the sun rise from your window twice without sleeping isn't fun. The only "fun" part about that experience, was that my doctor was able to make my insurers "expert" look like a fool haha.

Always remember it’s an experiment. Do not ever forget it.😀

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, So the first surgery helped reduce the severity of seizures. Also took away some of my auras.

After my second surgery, I’ve only had focal aware seizures. Fortunately no tonic clonic episodes.

However, im thinking a third because it’s believed that I have a more complicated form of epilepsy. I’m watching my body become more and more resistant to the drugs including 17 seizures in then last two months.

A video egg is non invasive, so it doesn’t hurt to test I guess. For me a third rodeo would probably require an SEEG, which is an invasive procedure.

However, if you chose to do it, I would try to go to the best place possible and is willing to take you.

I am being ween off of keppra. I will be taking only vimpat and briviact. Sometimes you do not notice a seizure. For me, I need someone to tell me.

I’ve had a couple of them, one of which was 3 days long. I would say wait until your body gets accustomed to the Vimpat for a couple/few weeks and then schedule one. It takes time for the meds to be metabolized normally. I’m no professional, but knowing my doctor, he’d probably wait a couple of weeks. Congratulations on the seven days, that’s great! It sounds promising… 🤞K
