Do You Drive Even Though You Know You Aren't Suppose To?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I find on Facebook many people state the drive although their license has been pulled. I was diagnosed when I had a tonic clonic seizure driving and crashed my car. I believe many people still drive thinking an aura/focal is no big deal. These as in my case; can lead to TCs.

Just because you have an aura doesn't give a person the right to drive. It gives you an idea of when the seizure is coming and sometimes you don't have time to prepare to stop, get the car to the side of the street etc...
Then comes the crash and the others you hurt besides yourself. The purpose of not driving is for your protecting and others too, remember this next time you drive. I had too think before I started. It's been thirty years without seizures but there's not a day that goes by that I wonder if I'll have one?

I drove for years after getting shot and having my 1st seizure. Then about 5-6 years later I started having more seizures crashed and totaled 2 cars having a seizure. God spared my life again. I didn't want to drive after going off the side of the freeway into a ditch, & the second crash woke up to hitting a city bus with passengers on it thank God again no 1 was hurt/harmed but me!!! After the 2 accidents I'm scared to get behind a wheel of a car its been 5 years now of no driving it sucks at times but that's life. Sometimes we have to adjust in life to different situations and keep going!!!! I believe God's whoopings in life only get harder!!! That thought was enough for me to say it's time to quit& find another way to commute (adjust)

I was really scared that I would lose my privilege to drive a car. I drove for 4 months after my first seizure. Then, I have not driven in 20 years.

However, I use an electric bike to overcome the need for a car. I wear a motocycle helmet, gloves, and jacket while I use it because it is extremely fast (up to 40 mph). It seems like I may need to get a license for it... But I keep pretending its a bike.
