How Do People Look After Themselves After They Have Had A Seizure?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I was just wondering what other people do after they have had a seizure to make themselves feel better. Everytime I have a seizure I use can't believe how tired it makes me and I hate it, I hate feeling ill and helpless lime this. I live alone so just end up spending days inside not seeing a soul and just sleeping. I get really down as there's nothing I can do and not really anyone I can talk to.

Keeping busy and Keepingyour mind on somethingyou like to do.

I go out to the woodshop and build wood toys for hospitalized children. This puts my mind in a direction of helping others and distracts the mind in a good way.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member all I did yesterday and the day before is sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep. I feel so much better today.

Lydia, it's difficult to care for yourself after seizures. What motivates me is I'd rather do that than go to the hospital and be cared for in that environment. I color, do puzzles, read clean up a little bit at a time. There are some memory games I play online. Bought a stationary bike and I go for very short walks. Just like our epilepsy is different for each one of us so is our journey caring for ourselves. You'll figure it out and you're smart to ask here. Maybe something will help or spark your mind for something that works better for you. Best wishes šŸ’œšŸ¤—
