I had to get an attorney after I was denied after three appeals. I've been seeing a psychologist since shortly after my diagnosis, initially for depression. Deep questioning and I finally owned up to the child abuse I endured for years and kept secret all my life. It was determined that I additionally have Complex PTSD. After three years of counseling, and a mound of paperwork, I actually got denied for epilepsy, but approved for the CPTSD. I couldn't understand it. I could no longer get hired because I have become a liability and extreme safety risk. I was a toolmaker/ maintenance mechanic and machinist. There's no way any company would hire anyone to work with lathes, mills, grinders and metalworking equipment... all man-eating machinery, should I fall into a running machine, or make a bad decision while on these AEDs. But it still took an attorney and nearly three years to get approved.

The SSA will need you DOB certification , you I.D. Your bank info. And all the specialists and Dr.s , who have info on your Epilepsy. The more informative Documents you can get the better chance of getting the SSI. .

You still might have to try more than once to get it. You may even need to get a Disability Firm involved .

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Contact your local Epilepsy Foundation, https://www.epilepsy.com/local/washington & ask if they can recommend a disability attorney to help you apply for disability. It’s a very long process & tons & tons of paperwork. If you don’t already, start keeping records of your seizures, like when you had one & note the doctors you see & when. If you get turned down the first time, your attorney will appeal & keep trying. Every person’s case is different & so one could take longer than the other. My local Epilepsy Foundation had me contact a local Family Law Firm & their disability attorney helped me & eventually I finally got approved. Your friend in Texas, Becky

Start with the recommendation from your Docter and then start your application. that your doctor may have or go to your family service in your area.
The family service can help you find an advocate to help you through the process.
You don't want to go in front of a judge without one. They usually do not charge unless you win the case.
Good luck
