Question About Absent Seizures For Someone Who Works In The Medical Field.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I work in an ER in St Louis, MO and I have Epilepsy and was diagnosed with Nocturnal seizures in 2021. I have nocturnal seizures as well. I wish they were more controlled but at least things aren't as bad as they used to be. Over the last several years, I've noticed that I'm dealing with the same thing regarding the loss of train of thought, or I just go blank mid sentence. I'm beginning to wonder how much worse things are going to get as I get older.

I also have only had the nocturnal seizures and recently started to have these instances where i just draw a blank completely mid sentance and loose track of everything around me for a moment and I can tell the other person is talking but I have no clue what they are saying.

A few moments pass and I can talk but usually loose my train all together. They started to happen more frequently lately and I have no idea what to make of it.

I have experienced times when communicating with others is pretty much impossible. I can't produce words and when someone speaks it sounds like a "waterfall". I don't know what they are saying. this usually only happens during a complex partial seizure
