Are You Ok With Name Brand Meds Or Like The Gen Version Of, Do You Think It Matters? I'm Ok With Either Of Them They Prescribe To Me,

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been on the name brand or my meds both of them, I can't seem to be able to tell the difference, expect maybe the price for the meds I was prescribed, but I think that do the same thing but one is a name brand and one isn't, I'm ok with both unless told to get the name brand, what do you think?

I’ve been on both brand types of medications. Sometimes I had to be on generics , because of insurances not want8ng to pay a high price of brand med.

Other reason was from experiencing bad side effects after being on the medication brand too long and had to change to the generic brand.

Don’t matter as long as it serves it’s purpose❣️

My seizures cannot be controlled with generics. These medications have to be Brand name. My Neuro had to be insistent with the insurance company to accept paying for the Brand name. I am so fortunate.

Manulife who is my insurance broker for my medications covers only Generic and I am ok with that.

I prefer the name brand as the name is different and shorter than the generic name. As it is a long name, if you confuse a few letters in it, that would be another different drug.
