I had a experience once and I'll call it a mishap let's say, but anyway my one med is a little low and I am a questioning person sometimes I keep somethings to myself as for the the meds it is a curious thing and a wonder too, I do ok with the medical field etc, and the docs I've seen, but what about the meds part of it, i was put on a med I had been taking, and I met a new doc out here in 1992 I think and said what are doing on these I had on my possession, and then switched my meds, but what… read more

Always let the doctors know if your not ok with something, its your body after all and they don't know everything.

Yes, the doctor had to increase both of my meds a few times to get everything correct. One medication was changed 2 or 3 times by the MG’s to help with my headaches and doing that also slowed my seizures greatly.

Yes, I had drugs resistant epilepsy and that was when neurosurgery was suggested back in 1993, surgery took place in 1994.

When I was 1st told I was drug resistant, it was for whichever meds that help a lot of people with epilepsy. I have been on some drugs for years now, and others, I had side effects. After a botched and aborted surgery, we tried others. My seizures went down. This year, I learned about another med. With the addition of xcopri, my last ambulatory 72hr EEG, I had No seizures. I think to answer your question, since we don’t have a cure for Epilepsy yet, the docs
kinda have to try different treatments. whether it’s a different drug, or changing the dosages, they, like you, don’t really know. All they can really go on, is what happened for other people, who have the same, or similar epilepsy you have, in addition what their colleagues think, what outside information they learned about, like new medications, or journals ,or any information they can get from around the world.
Ok I went off too much. But short answer to your question,
I have no issues with this.
Dave, do you feel comfortable with your neurologist? If not, get a second opinion and/ort find another one.
I hope my novel here helps.
