How Do I Know I Have Brain Damage From Temporal Lobe Seizures?

My seizures at this point are well controlled by Brivact and an a VNS. Yet, at home, I still jerk, slobber excessively at times, headaches are severe, falling is another problem, disorientation continues, accomplishing tasks takes more time, childhood absence seizures continue, complex partial seizures are under control, and anytime I take a 24 hour or 72 hour EEG or a week of observation nothing is noted as abnormal. It can be difficult to know for sure if temporal lobe seizures have caused brain damage. However, the symptoms you describe like severe headaches, disorientation, falling, and needing more time to accomplish tasks could indicate some impact on brain function. Since you have had seizures since birth, there is an increased risk of brain abnormalities or damage, especially in the developing brain. However, the fact that your current seizures are well-controlled with medication is encouraging. Continuing to work closely with your doctor, tracking symptoms, and considering imaging or cognitive testing may help determine if further treatment is needed.

That's an interesting way of putting it usually seizures are caused by damage to the brain whether by injury or even self inflicted injury through substance and alcohol abuse

As far as existing harm an MRI will show. As far as seizures causing damage is just unknown. Consult Dr bout especially the headaches to allleviate this.
