Do You Think Being On You Period Can Trigger Your Seizures

I feel like they can because when I'm on my week i would sometimes have 2 or 3 seizures during that week even though i took my medicine and haven't been having seizures for weeks.This is mainly a question for the girls but anyone can answer

The brain becomes more vulnerable to seizures when hormone levels, especially estrogen, change. Some women only have them at one time of the month, catamenial seizures. But if we have epilepsy, we can still have them get worse during our monthly cycle. That subsides after menopause, but then we have other problems to deal with 😏….

It’s called catamenial epilepsy I had this until I had hysterectomy-I averaged 8-9 the week of my cycle and now I might average 3 all month

Yes, there’s actually a particular type of seizure disorder that is associated with this. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t have seizures at other times

Yes-def as when I had my period I had appt 8-9 those 5 days…every month-my neuro stayed it was Catamenial Epilepsy which affects women during there cycle-so I dealt with seizures and very bad stomachaches.I got a hysterectomy yr.and a half ago and now I average maybe 2 or 3 at the most all month
