Does Anyone Have Trouble Scheduling An Appointment With A New Neurologist?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ
Davenport, IA

My previous neurologist moved on to a different field neurology that involves dementia. I had an appointment last December but cancelled it due to my work schedule and having not enough time to fill out the extensive paperwork he wanted me to fill out.

I called the other day and the receptionist/scheduler was real snotty and told me the doctor only sees new patients in the mornings. I told her I work from 6pm to 4:30am Sunday through Wednesday and sometimes to 5:30am during peak seasons plusโ€ฆ read more

The public system does all this for me.

Personally, if you had a good relationship with your old neurologist I would try to continue to see them. I am seeing an epiologist, who is an MD with a concentration in epilepsy and it has been a tremendous fit. He is as good as my previous neurologists and is on the same page with me about my treatment.
AND HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ๐ŸŽ‚!!

As recommended above I would ask your PCP to recommend a new neurologist. I have had smooth sailing since I changed doctors and was even able to finally get something done, rather than simply increasing my medication. I am very excited to say that in a couple of weeks I am going to be meeting with a neurosurgeon and the possibility of lasar surgery. Seems like every since I changed to a new doctor, whoโ€™s kinda young so I wasnโ€™t sure how things would go. But hopefully I will be able to get of some of the medications that I take. I know that itโ€™s not a cure but to be a part of the advanced medical procedure is an answer to my prayers. May God bless you all and I wish you the best ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜˜

I am able to see them every few months now, so scheduling is not a problem. Because I do not drive, I need to give at least a week's notice about them. Having Bloods drawn I try to do in the morning, because I cannot take my medication until after that is done.
