Does Your Family Ever Act Like Or Make You Feel Like Having Seizures Isn't A Big Deal
No, my grandmother, father and his siblings had childhood seizures. They taught me how to detect and learn my triggers
Sometimes people pretend things aren't a big deal... because they're scared or sometimes uninformed.
Maybe someone you know... knows that epilepsy really isn't just "that big"... It's even "BIGGER!!!" So they just stay quiet thinking it's better for you .. just not to talk about it.
Someone reacting in this sort of behavior can also mean that someone loves and cares about you.
Epilepsy is rough on everyone it touches. Those who physically have it... and those family and friends who live with someone who has it. We all feel it!
Wouldn't it be easier to just "pretend" everything is ok and epilepsy doesn't exist " at the end of the day!?!"... but what good does that do?!?
We need to keep people informed (including us); it keeps everyone and us safe(maybe even alive)! If everyone has the knowledge... there's no reason to be scared... no reason to pretend epilepsy isn't important!

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I get the same reaction from the hubs. Worried, with a bit of angry mixed in.

You got that right. Epilepsy is not just seizures. It affects us in so many ways from life to memory. It does no good to “Pretend” epilepsy isn’t important because I’ve lived with it for over 30 years and it has had control of my whole life. And like you said it has put a lot of pressure on my parents taking care of doctor appointments and watching me grow up with seizures.
My mom and dad really didn’t treat my seizures as anything special, but then again they never treated any of my illnesses seriously. My hubs on the other hand goes overboard.
If Let's Say Everyone Or Most Of The World Knew More Of The Condition We Have, Would It Make A Little Bit More Dif As How They See Us, More
If You Have The Choice To Hide Your Epilepsy... But Don't... Could You Please Comment?
I Think For People That Aren’t Epileptic Like All Of Us In This Group Have A Hard Time Understanding What We Actually Go Through When A
