It sounds like you experienced myoclonic seizures affecting the right side of your body. These types of seizures involve sudden, brief jerking of the muscles. They may consider adjusting treatment to help reduce seizures.

It is myoclonic jerks, but it just depends on whether there from the meds or whether seizure related as it depends on what part of brain it comes from. I had this issue for a few years and had to have lots of tests and it turned out to be med related not seizures but either way I still had to change meds.

I've had the same thing happen before with my left hand, but just slight jerking (happened at my nephews wedding reception & my food went flying off my fork). The last one I had was worse & was during one of my "off episodes". I thank God that He allowed this to happen at my epilepsy specialist consultation. He was able to see what happens during the "off episodes" & witnessed some really bad left hand shaking...couldn't even fill out the patient questionnaire b/c I'm a lefty.

Thanks so much, and I am so glad you are doing better. What did they put you on instead?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I didn't have it with Xcopri I had it with Tegretol. But it was a simlar situaltion. Mine was very long term though. I was first put on it 23 years ago everything was fine for a very long time I did notice a very small twitch that would happen a few times a year but thought nothing of it then a bout 8 years ago It gradually got worse. As they started to increase the Tegretol it got even more worse then eventully I had to change due to other issues.

Looking back I really thought I did have a completely difrent type of epilepsy but thankfully I did'nt and everything was still the same.

What did I do to get rid of it? In short: 8 years worth of testing and that was eeg tests, 2x 3day video eeg, and 3 day eeg plus 2x MRI in that time frame. As well as other tests.

Point is its most likely not going to be a short proccess. The othere thing is I'm not to sure about Xcorpi but there will normally be a wean proccess to come off the med and on to the new one. When I came off Tegretol it took me 7 weeks just to come off it then about 3 months minimun before I was some what adjusted. Thankfully I still have'nt needed a increase.
