Religion

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

Now I know this is going to be controversial but do those with strong religious beliefs think epilepsy is a punishment?

We are all human whatever colour, age, gender or social beliefs.

Not to sound like a politician but we are all here to talk and help each other in whatever way we can. Epilepsy and its associated problems need to be tackled on a global scale. Together we can beat this if we hold each others hand!

I was raised Catholic . I don’t believe , being diagnosed with Epilepsy is any form of Punishment. It’s another way of learning to live a different way and style, whether we like it or not.

Memory Loss With Certain Medication?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Bury St Edmunds, UK

Hi there ladies & gents. I have just joined this group and it seems really nice and welcoming
I was going to ask something, has anyone had any sort of memory trouble when taking the lamotrigine medication? I was on 100mg 3 times a day and my memory really did seem faint. I was getting really worried about this but the doctors didn't really do anything about it. I have had the lamotrigine decreased as I am taking a higher dose of keppra now but really would like someone to write back if they… read more

Tweet Seizure

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

Read on the news today that a person from the US deliberately sent someone a series of tweets containing images that caused the viewer to have seizures.
I FIND THIS UTTERLY DISTURBING!!!

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Please excuse me while I vent. I HATE THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES. All they want to do is to made money and we are at the bottom of the list of consideration of all of the R&D that they do… read more

Medications And Weight

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Houston, TX

I just wanted to ask if not only epilepsy medications but all types of medications can cause weight gain or can give a hard time in losing weight? The reason for my asking is because I've been doing my very best in maintaining my weight, not only by exercising every day but also dieting and watching what I eat. I tried everything but my weight seems to stay steady at around 193. If anyone has the answer I would appreciate it.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

depakote causes weight gain as well as hair loss and severe depression for some.

Forgetting You Have Epilepsy

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Loughborough, UK

Am I the only one that sometimes forgets that I have epilepsy? Some days I don't have a single seizure or symptom.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I don't think about it either. I am living my life without it ruling me, imo!! :-) Problem is sometimes I ignore the warning auras too. Perhaps in denial......

Epilepsy In Films Or On Tv

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

More of a statement really but I hate it when epilepsy sufferers are portrayed wrong in films or on tv. The producers just haven't done their research properly!

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I've noticed the show has gotten more realistic. I'm assuming that enough people complained online to force them to get a better medical advisor to the writers.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Everyone has a different body and I'm sure different seizure warning signs but I wanted to ask what warning signs you might notice before you have one so I could compare it to mine.
Thanks
Michelle
