Memory Recall

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Hesperia, CA

I was listening to music and singing along to just about every song when I realized, how is it that I can remember the words from songs I haven’t heard in years but forget what I had for breakfast yesterday? Idk but it sure felt good to know memory recall is still in effect ☺️

If You Know Everything You Know Now, Would You Still Have That Brain Surgery Today?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

For those of you who have had brain surgery, please first answer each of these questions (for each time you had brain surgery) before answering the main question:

1. When was your brain surgery?

2. What were you told prior to convinced you to have brain surgery?

3. What was/are your pros and cons in judging your brain surgery or surgeries?

4. Did one or more of them improve your quality of life?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Sounds like the WADA test. I had that before my surgery.

Has Anyone Been Watching The Voice?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Davenport, IA

There was a singer on there, Jackson Snelling, who was selected by Reba McIntyre on the first episode. Before they go on stage for the blinds, they usually do back story of the person. He told of his epilepsy and I thought that was very courageous of him to do that. However they never showed that on YouTube.

Tonight was the battles and he went head-to-head with another member of Reba McIntyre's team. He was a very good singer, but didn't make the cut to the next round. The battle round video… read more

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, they did mention his epilepsy during the back story which wasn't on any of the videos. I wish they would have shown it.

Can Anybody Else Say That A Seizure Possibly Saved Their Life?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Kansas City, KS

When I was 10 years old I had my first seizure. I was taken to the doctor and when the doctor listened to my heart they found out that I had a murmur and needed open heart surgery. The doctors said if I wouldn’t have had that heart surgery I would have died by the age of 17. It’s a good thing I had my first seizure when I did.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

That has not happened to me. However, when I do have large seizures I ignore my Triggers.

Catamenial Epilepsy

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Dunedin, NZ

Can hormones irritate seizures or cause seizures? Menopause effect:
When I was pregnant, I had less seizures? During pregnancy the 3 hormones vary. Estrogene excites seizures, progesterone prohibits seizures and testosterone has no reaction on seizures. Therefore, could natural progesterone be used to control seizures.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I've never had a reaction during my cycles, probably because mine were caused from tumors, so I can't speak on that. However, after my last 2 surgeries, which included having almost a whole lobectomy… read more

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Wellington, NZ

I am getting married next Feb and I have most of it sorted out. However, since my parents split when I was young, my mum does not want to talk to my dad about wedding stuff, my parents are kindly paying for most of it. I am having to be the middle man it is tough on me. I don't know why my mum is being like that, she is making it about her. It is stressing me out and I can't afford to have anymore seizures at work I already had two at work.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I have no advice on the issue with your parents, but I do want to congratulate you on your wedding plans. Congratulations!

I Am 69 Years Old. Are There Others In My Age Range Who Also Are Scared Of Any Surgery?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Alpharetta,Roswell,Cumming, GA

I do have an option with laser ablation surgery to help me, but it's not 100% effective on everybody. I am physically active other than driving and am afraid that any surgery would ruin that from whatever side-effects would occur with a surgery.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, thank you for explaining this is me. My medication is trying to keep my seizures under control. I went three months with a seizure. That was good for me. Of course, I got… read more
