Paranoia After Seizure

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Louisville, KY

I would like to ask a question. When you have a seizure, does anyone else get really paranoid about anything? For me, it is my bills. After a seizure I forget I have paid my monthly bills and within a day or so after a seizure, I will repay one or two. Twice recently I have paid my rent twice, thankfully, I have a very understanding owner who calls and checks on me to see if I want her to return the check. Last month I paid my water bill and my electric bill twice. Not only does it make me feel… read more

Does Anyone Else Have Absence/petit Mal Seizures And Auras?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Los Angeles, CA

I was originally diagnosed with simple and complex partials based on my history and symptoms, but the only thing my video EEG picked up was a generalized absence seizure even though I had auras for several of the days I was there. (My auras are waves of a strange feeling in my head like dizziness, sometimes with tingling in my scalp.) I read that people with absence seizures don't usually have an aura or post-ictal confusion, but I definitely do. My epileptologist mentioned that something… read more

How Do You Relearn To Be Epileptic?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Griffith, IN

Just two weeks shy of my being 7 years seizure free I had a grand mal. Now I find myself feeling like I'm new to this all over again. I'm 40 but I feel like I'm 12 yrs old again & afraid I'll have a seizure any time any where. I began to think I took medication but almost didn't really have epilepsy. It's been so long since I felt the fear, I don't know what to do with it or how to deal with it any more. Fear in my job is something I never had either. I teach, what if it happens? My worst fear… read more

Does Anyone Who Has Had A Generalized Seizuer Have Issues With Memory?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Placerville, CA

I'm not talking about short term memory loss. I can forget what I'm talking about in the middle of a sentence, and not just once in a while, but frequently. I also have moments where I don't recognize my surroundings and panic a little until I remember where I am and what I'm doing. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with these issues and if it has been or can be fixed.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. A lot of times, I'll get disoriented, especially at night, when I'm in new places. I go into a restaurant just to use the bathroom and, after I'm done, forget… read more
