Why Don’t They Focus More On Seizures

If they focused more on it they could find a cure

I feel like if doctors had a greater incentive (more cash better insurance) to find our individual issues then at least most of us would have a cause.

Symptom and seizure treatment will be the only standard as 1 by 1 causes might be narrowed individually . Epilepsy is always of an unknown mechanism and can have variable causes case to case. Once identified its not epilepsy anymore but seizures induced by the condition . I remember telling my doctor "so I basically have seizures and you don't know why "

I can't say I haven't seen progress. They had just three pills you could take when I started having seizures in '61. Now they have more than three surgeries to help, sometimes control seizures. I had a temporal lobectomy in 2000 and haven't had a seizure since.

Because people are terrified of the words seizures and epilepsy. They don't believe that seizures are a disability. They think that we fake having seizures.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, Thank you for thinking of me. I felt it. I am feeling better. I don't worry or stress about the medical bills. I will never be able to pay them all and that is just the way it is. They all will go to collection and at some point the collections will stop calling. I am just going to focus on ME.

Thinking of you and sending well wishes. The medical bills can be ridiculous even with insurance.
