Can The Heat Effect Seizures?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Southampton, UK

I find it very difficult to stay cool when it's warm/hot outside and when it's really hot it makes me feel ill. I was just wondering if that triggers anyone else's seizures?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I know what you mean cause I have had lots of spiders 🕷, once I found quite a big spider 🕷, I keep a plastic beaker near by to put over it, till I get someone to get rid of it, it's so annoying.

Does A “Good Cry” Make You Feel Better? Or Worse?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Saint Louis, MO

I feel better. Once I’ve settled down! I read that crying produces endorphins that improve your mood. Having had my share of tears, I believe I’ve bumped into my share of calming endorphins. Really!

Visual Symptoms Or Verbal Symptoms?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sydney, AU

Do you think it's better to show a video of your symptoms rather than just saying them
I personally find just saying a symptom doesn't do it justice I know some symptoms can't be really recorded due to unpredictability and some are not visible like nausea, headaches etc
But I find that doctors don't really understand the severity of some and don't take it seriously .
Like my Dr doesn't think I have seizures even though I've had a previous Dr who has seen and witnessed it and so many others… read more

Does Anyone Else Get Dizziness From Exposure To Perfumes, Cleaners Etc.? And If So Can This Lead To Seizures?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Brisbane, AU

Hey,

So, I was tested for allergies a long time ago and as expected I came up as allergic to basically everything apart from one or two things. This includes:
dust mites
animal dander
mould spores
pollens
some chemicals and medicines

This is just a very general sense of what I'm allergic to.

Years later I got a job in retail and started working on a cash register. at the time I had no idea what the cause was but now it's very likely due to the allergies I had. Anyway, my point is at the… read more

It's a possibility that allergies can increase the chance of a seizure. But not 100% proven they do.

Stress?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sydney, AU

Do you think having a seizure disorder makes you less able to handle stress then someone who hasn't got a seizure disorder?
I find I can't handle stress like my body can't tolerate it I wasn't like that before when I was healthy and seizure free.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

For me, stress triggers seizures and I think there's a weird snowball effect....because I stress myself out...I stress myself out in an attempt to NOT get stressed. I hope that makes sense. I'm trying… read more
