Can Anyone Tell Me Something Positive That Has Happened In Their Life Because Of Epilepsy?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Silver Springs, NV

My life was plagued with grand mal seizures for decades and I never saw a speck of good coming from having epilepsy. As I got older I began to realize my life had been sculpted into this person with self-confidence, unusual artistic talents and all because of my unusual brain. When we see our perfection the good from epilepsy will shine through.

Due to epilepsy I got, firstly, to experience what it is like to experience a ‘hidden’ disABILITY. You seem 100% fine until it happens - which frightens people out of sheer shock. I now am a w’chair… read more

What Do You Do To Thwart Toxicity From Your Meds?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Weston, MA

* Don't do anything that makes my blood rush to my head (over-caffeinating myself, sugary breakfasts, leaning over and putting my head down, generally running around during the hour after taking my meds).
* Stay seated for an hour. Don't lie down no matter how… read more

For me, I also sit for about an hour after taking my meds before I even jump in the shower. I get up early enough to take my meds, sit in my armchair for an hour or so and then get myself ready for… read more

Concentration

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Raynham, MA

I've recently noticed how much I tend to get lost in a conversation. I feel like I nod and act like I know what we're talking about and then have to ask what we talked about. Im sure it's something people can notice. Has anyone had these issues?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Thank you all for the comments. I'm finally scheduled for tests for attention/memory issues . Hopefully we find something to help.

I would like to know if anyone has experienced having a warning before seizure but not experienced it in the past?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Absolutely. I had a major seizure 3 years ago and I had a feeling for a couple of minutes beforehand that something was about to happen. I was in a supermarket at the time - not the best place to be!!

Does the heat trigger your seizures

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

@Jodi2074Gmail.com, you sound similar to my Bev. Only for Bev, the heat will just make her pass out. Plus the type or consistency of activity has an effect. She has a two-step dance and chance to sit… read more

That's when I am the worst. Get me sick and I will grump at you and so much more and you'd better be getting out of my way or else you'd better send me to bed.
