Does Anyone Else Experience Dissociation? Specifically Derealization And Depersonalization?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Clyde, NY

Not necessarily an epilepsy question but could relate to epilepsy and I'm sure others with epilepsy may experience it. I just want to get others' experiences with dissociation. I started experiencing dissociation after a traumatic event and it's a little scary to say the least

Seizure Type??

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Knoxville, TN

This has never happened to me before. We came home today, and there were boxes of things on our porch from Walmart. My boyfriend and I kept accusing each other of ordering the things that we really did not need, like a folding chair 🫤. I looked on my app, and it turns out that I ordered them. It was the day that I had to skip work because I was having Focal Seizures, too. I've never done anything strange or something that I don't remember during seizures though (besides a tonic clonic) have you… read more

What Subjects Would You Like To Discuss Related To Epilepsy And All That Comes With It In Virtual Meetings?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

Some of us have been discussing (and even had a few) having ZOOM, Skype, WebEx, Microsoft Team, etc. meetings with friends and potential news friends on this site to discuss a specific subject at each meeting. And we will post the recording of the meeting in a Q + A or something similar (still waiting for response from the creators of this site for how best to do this) so that anyone who cannot make it to the particular virtual meeting can at least see/hear the virtual discussion and then (if… read more

Do You Have Auras? Are They Always The Same Or Is It Different Each Time?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Huntington Beach, CA

I seem to have different ones. Sometimes an overwhelming dizziness, sometimes it seems like there's a veil over one side of my vision.

Mine can sometimes differ, at some times being the tunnel vision, other times being the sense of motion (like you’re on a boat through waves). My vision sometimes just becomes undefined, the edges of… read more

Are You Willing To Do Whatever Is Necessary To Help New Members Feel Comfortable And Quickly Have A Team Of Many?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

I ask this because the site owners and techs are not able to provide an additional search option to search for New Members. And there have been too many New Members over the years who have come once or a few times and gotten frustrated and left because they do not get the true benefit of being embraced by a large enough team to not only make them feel welcome but also be able to provide answers and often personal experience regarding any related to seizures (types, symptoms, auras, side… read more

Does Anybody Know What It’s Like If You Seem To Keep Hearing The Same Phrases Or Questions?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

What’s odd is, it seems like it’s some kind of seizure, but I actually haven’t had a single one all day. So I’m wondering if the food I had affected something.

Are The Deja Vu Sensations A Seizure?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Southampton, UK

I had a really bizarre moment this morning. I had just let my dogs out to go to the bathroom and when I got back upstairs to my friends flat I was taking their leads off and felt this really strong deja vu sensation, I carried on taking their leads and harnesses on but it all just felt very strange. I was alone and I remember it very clearly. Just wondered if anyone else has these sensations without a full blown tonic clonic.

Deja Vu for me is a sign telling me that a seizure is going to happen; like an aura.
