Dementia

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Monett, MO

Has anyone ever developed dementia from their epilepsy?
My memory problems have gotten much worse this past year. I had diagnostic testing with a neuropsychologist and saw my results online. It says Major neurocognitive disorder/Dementia.
My Dr has been to busy to call, makes me angry, and his nurse can't tell me anything. Just wondering if anyone had any information? I'm just worried and scared.

Hi All, I’m Recently Back After Being Gone A Longer Time And Having Some Serious Testing.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Parker, CO

After one of the rounds of my testing, where they had taken me off meds to create seizures, they put me on the wrong med that created a lot of seizures. What would you do? This caused permanent damage I think.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

If the previous medication was controlling the seizures. I would ask for that specific one again and stop taking the new one. Doctors always switch medication thinking than guess what will stop you… read more

Help

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Corona, NY

My son is now having an overnight EEG and in the moment he was receiving his injection the computer showed Persyst Seizure on pink letters. The spikes could be related to any movement? Neurologist said that he was assymetric infantile spasms , but he was taking ACTH and he was worst 🥲 is it possible that medicine could make him… read more

Has Anyones White Blood Count Dropped Below The Low Level 4.0? If So How Did You Take It?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Brisbane, AU

So, I'm currently having monthly blood tests to monitor medication levels in the blood after a recent increase. Based on my most recent blood test my WBC has dropped to 3.7 and the Neutrophils are now at 1.7 . It is well known that the medication (Tegretol) that I'm on can cause the WBC to drop in some cases.

Now I know these levels are not that low but the thing is I'm on this medication basically permanently until something changes so it's very likely that if it is dropping it will only get… read more

So Is Anyone Else Getting The Shakes Because Of This?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Indianapolis, IN

Just saw a video on FB about a guy that has the shakes so bad that he can barely get food in his mouth anymore and that's what has me asking this question. The first started probably 4-5 years ago and have steadily just gotten worse. I asked my first neuro about them but really haven't bothered since being that they seem really low on my charts of worries, however as they're getting worse it now has me wondering more. It's gotten now to the point where it's very noticeable when I'm eating… read more
