To Swim Or Not To Swim

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Westchester NY

Hi everyone,

I've seen people on here who don't swim because it would be disastrous if they had a seizure in the water. I've seen others post that they do swim. Has anyone been told that people with seizures should never swim?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I have heard that. I swim sometimes.

Can You Set Up A New Prorogram

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Deming, NM

I have an idea for a new program called Epilepsy Dating. Why not create a program so single epileptic members can meet others? They can search to meet a person of the same or oposite sex, provide a profile , photo and message. Many epileptic members have a hard time living alone.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Please dear God... Someone help me!

At first it started with excruciating headaches... they think its from a lesion on my brain. I was first seen by a doctor just about these headaches in October 2017 and they are still on going

At times I go blind, my eye feels like its swollen.
Severe memory loss

Awareness During Seizure

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Pasadena, CA

Question: Does anyone hear things around them when having a seizure. I think I just had one but seem to be aware of what’s happening. Just had trouble talking? Thank you for any input.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I have aura during or before a seizure, so I consider them both to be a combination. Aura is a slight warning that I'm about to have a complex partial or partial seizure that I never remember?? Keri

Do You Ever Get Treated Differently When People Know You Have Epilepsy?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Jersey City, NJ

When people find out I have epilepsy, they treat me like a baby/kid. They act like I can't do something myself or it might be dangerous for me. I'm taking a carpentry class & the teacher & the nurse thinks it's dangerous for me to do, but there's nothing I'm interested in.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Yes I have but that’s when I realized those people were not supposed to be in my life because no one should have the ability to judge you. Be confident and accept epilepsy.
